International company implements a structured archiving framework
The specialty chemicals group LANXESS, listed on the DAX index, has implemented several demanding archiving projects together with AvenDATA in recent years. The focus was on various BusinessCritical legacy systems, including SAP, JD Edwards, OTRS and SAP Solution Manager. The objective was to archive Historical corporate data in a compliant and auditready manner while fully decommissioning the underlying systems.
Diverse and technically challenging system landscapes
These projects involved significant technical challenges because different system architectures, data models and archiving requirements had to be considered. Through structured data extraction, preparation and archiving, the relevant information was made available for the long term without the need to continue operating the original applications.
Reliable longterm data access paired with significant cost advantages
A key focus was on ensuring longterm data availability and traceability. Even after the systems were shut down, the company needed to continue accessing historical information for audits, compliance requirements or internal business evaluations. Structured archiving made this possible while also reducing operating costs for legacy systems.
At the same time, shutting down the legacy systems significantly reduced ongoing IT operating costs.
A resultsdriven and collaborative partnership
Despite individual challenges throughout the project, AvenDATA proved to be a reliable partner. The team worked solutionoriented, pragmatic and with a clear focus on successfully completing the projects. The archiving process and the subsequent shutdown of all systems made a major contribution to sustainably consolidating the IT landscape, reducing operational complexity and lowering IT costs over the long term.
